Where can I park? There is street parking available on Cullen Street. Also, behind the set of shops opposite the church, you will find plenty of unmetered council parking. There is a direct pathway from the parking area back up to the church on Cullen Street.
Do you provide disability access? Yes and no. Yes, we have a ramp into the church building and main hall via our Burns Bay Road entrance. No, we don’t have a disabled toilet at present. Our toilet block stands on its own in the back cemented area of the church. A person with a wheel chair will need to go around the building from the outside for the toilets.
However the good news is that we have approval from council for extensions to the church facilities. These will include a convenient disabled toilet and passage-way to all the main areas of the church facilities on the ground level.
Do I need to bring my own Bible? No. Because we are a Bible believing and teaching church, we will provide you with a complimentary Bible to use and keep if you wish, as a gift from us. We use the King James Version of the Bible in all our services and ministries because of its accuracy.
How should I dress? Everyone is welcome at Metropolitan Baptist Church. While many of our attendees dress up for church, there is no formal dress code for church services. Our ministry leaders and many of our church family dress in more traditional “Sunday” dress.
Where do I take my children for Sunday school? For children three years old through to twelve there are fun, friendly, and Bible-centred Sunday School classes. They will be cared for by friendly, well-qualified teachers and helpers who will make church exciting and memorable for your child. Our friendly ushers are located in the main foyer and will gladly help direct you to the right class for your little ones.
Music ministry: Our music is conservative and traditional, and we sing hymns as part of our worship services. We believe that Christian music, like every other part of the Christian life, needs to be distinct from the world – 1 John 2:15-17; Colossians 3:16.
Nursery: Nursery facilities are available during all the main Sunday services. Our facilities are clean, air conditioned and well-equipped. Capable ladies from within the membership of the church will care for your children.
Child protection policies: To ensure that all our children’s ministries provide a happy and safe environment, all of our children’s ministry leaders and workers are members of Metropolitan Baptist Church and have undertaken child protection screening and training. Contact Pastor if you have any further questions in this regard.
Free transportation: We have a Toyota Hiace bus that is available for transportation to and from church services and ministries. The van is air-conditioned for your comfort, and all our drivers are responsible adults with full licenses.
Counselling: The Bible is sufficient to meet the needs of the human heart – Psalm 19:1-14. Pastor and ministry leaders are available to provide wise counsel and direction. Please contact us for free biblical counselling that will strengthen you personally and your family. We specialize in biblical counselling that strengthens lives and builds healthy family relationships.
Would you like to serve? God has entrusted His people with spiritual gifts and abilities – Romans 12:3-6. There are many ministries within the church that you may want to get involved in, ministries that are very practical in nature to spiritually mentoring others. Let’s use our gifts and abilities to glorify our God in Heaven – Ephesians 4:8.
Preaching the gospel: Every week, people are involved in sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with others. This is either personally or through various ministries of the church such as door-to-door visitation, street witnessing, Scripture classes and specific church ministries. We at Metropolitan Baptist Church take the “Great Commission” seriously – Matthew 28:18-20.
Ladies’ and Men’s Bible studies: The ‘’Life Stage’’ ministry ensures that every stage of life is ministered to from the very young children to men’s and ladies’ classes. You will find friendship and practical biblical instruction in each of these groups. See our Life Stages brochure for further details.
Homeschooling: Some of our church families school their children at home. We have a regular ministry that seeks to help and support these families.
Missions: Metropolitan Baptist Church is committed to preaching the Gospel all over the world – Mark 16:15. Do you want to be involved in a church that desires that all may know of the free gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ? Currently we support over 45 missionaries in Australia and abroad. See our Missionaries page.
Church facilities: At Metropolitan Baptist Church, you will find clean, safe, air-conditioned and well-maintained facilities for your enjoyment and peace of mind. Our facilities abide by current fire and safety codes. From the Pastoral staff, Ministry-Leaders, Deacons, Trustees, Ushers and first-aid officers, you will find peace of mind on the church grounds. Please contact Pastor if you have any specific questions in this regard.
Food and friendships: There are plenty of opportunities to make lasting friendships through the ministries and activities planned throughout the year. Please see our Church Bulletin for specific events coming up.
