March is Missions Month
March 1st, 2008
Our Monthly theme for March is “revive my love for the world, O Lord”.
Current estimates state that there are some 6.6 billion people in the world, scattered over some 265 countries. This number represents over 16,256 people groups; 6,877 groups reportedly without a single gospel witness. There are 6,516 known languages in the world; 4,110 remain without even a portion of God’s Word translated into their specific dialect. An overview of current religious beliefs would show the following: 33% Christian (includes Catholics), 20% Muslim, 13% Hindu and 6% Buddhist. These statistics tell us that there is much land yet to be possessed with the gospel of Jesus Christ!
Meanwhile it is estimated that approximately 90% of all known missionaries are reaching only 10% of the world’s population. And most of these missionaries are serving in countries that speak English. Is this what our Lord meant by “Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature”?
God’s love for the world is all inclusive and His salvation was provided for all. May God revive our hearts that we might love the world as God loves the world – John 3:16.
During the month of March Metropolitan Baptist Church hosts an annual Missions Conference. Why not join us for these specific services and ask the Lord to do a work of revival in your heart concerning reaching this world for Jesus Christ. See our monthly calendar for further details.
Will you pray?
Will you support missionaries?
Will you be the next missionary to go?
