What we believe

The Bible is the inspired word of God, complete, without error and totally able to meet all of mankind's need.

There is one God, yet three persons in the Godhead. The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

God created the world in six literal days.

Man has a sinful nature.

Jesus Christ is eternal God. His death, burial and resurrection provide salvation for all those who repent of their sin and receive the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour.

The church is an assembly of baptised believers who gather for teaching, prayer, fellowship, to care for one another and to carry out the Great Commission, which is to preach the Gospel world-wide.

The soon return of Christ and the literal teaching of Revelation concerning future prophecy.

The priority of personal Godliness.

We should love and pray for Australia and uphold the Christian values on which it was founded.

Did You Know?

Metropolitan Baptist Church was originally founded in a shared church building in Anderson Street at Chatswood. The present facilities were purchased in 1987.

Pastor Mario Schiavone is a local, having grown up in Lane Cove. He went to Crows Nest Boys High and St. Michael's Catholic Church.

Sydney Bible Baptist College had its first graduates in 1974.

Missions has always played a major role in the life of Metro with the first Missions Conference in 1975 raising over $7000 for the cause of Christ and missions.

Metropolitan Baptist Church has a theme in 2008 as a church family. It is "Revive Me O Lord".
